Morgentaler, was he really about women’s rights?

Recently, I, along with other folks from my church, were standing in front of the Georges Dumont hospital in Moncton with signs protesting abortions. The signs either read “Abortion is murder” or “babies are murdered here”.
I have to admit, it’s not easy standing in front of the building, with cars driving by, honking their horns and giving us the one finger salute. The vulgar one. The hatred in their eyes and faces while they look at us. I’m sure their impression is that we are trying to take women’s rights away by standing against abortions.
The encouraging part was, we still saw the majority giving us thumbs up and support.
About 1 hr into our 2 hr display, a pro choice individual showed up across the street. She started with her sign saying “honk for pro choice”. She changed her sign around within a few minutes when the honkers were giving us thumbs up.
While doing some research on this tragedy, I found a few things about Mr. Morgentaler (which some claim is the Canadian champion of the cause) that I never knew about. He was claimed as loving women, and trying to earn their love constantly.
I have often heard it said, your actions speak louder than your words. Well, Mr. Morgentaler was married 3 times, (not once did I find he was a widower). And while married, he had numerous affairs. How does a man that has love and respect for women, marry 3 times and have as many as 90 affairs (according to some reports).
I see this not as love and trying to get approval of women, I see this completely as lusting after women and using them as a sex object. Then if they get pregnant, use his doctor knowledge and perform an abortion so the truth about his affairs never makes it to the public view. If you ask ANY married woman that loves her husband, what is the single most hurtful thing you can do to her? The reply will be almost every time, unfaithfulness.
If you cheat on your spouse, you are showing a lack of love, a lack of respect. You’re showing her you’re only in it for sex. Sex itself is just a “thing of pleasure”…
I couldn’t find the quote again, but paraphrasing it, Morgentaler said “we have to abort the foetus before it develops into a baby”. So essentially, he’s trying to fight his own guilt, knowing full well that foetuses are living human babies.
Pro choice folks, for the most part ( I won’t paint them all with the same brush) are both very emotional (we found this out when trying to talk to the 2 ladies across the street) and will use this instead of logic. The problem is they are not pro choice, they are pro abortion.
You see, if you call it abortion, or murder it sounds so wrong, immoral. However, if you call it pro choice, it’s just another choice. Here’s the problem, there are many choices. Abstinence, adoption (private or open), condoms, the pill, keeping the child, marriage before sex, masturbation.
Though I don’t support any sex before marriage, nor do I support masturbation, it would greatly reduce the amount of children being aborted.
Much more could be said, but I think the point has been made.
This is why Christ had to die. Because we sin on a regular basis. A woman wanting to abort her child, a husband that beats/cheats on his wife, a wife that indulges in shopping. Lying, idolatry, sex outside of marriage and the list goes on and on.
I pray that if you are reading this article, you might be convicted of your sin and how offensive it is to the God of creation. And that you might look to Christ on the cross for forgiveness.
