Is Life Really That Short?
For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now the accepted time; behold, now the day of salvation.)(2 Cor 6:2)
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;…For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
(Ecclesiastes 12:1,4)
I am a talker. I will talk to nearly anyone, about anything, anytime. My favourite conversations are with people that are a good number of years older than I am. I am in my mid 30’s and anytime I can strike a conversation with someone older than 60 I absolutely love it. Not because I can tell them about the new technologies that we have at our disposal, But to hear the stories of their youth. The culture, the customs and the daily routines are intriguing to me. They remember the days when it was frowned upon to be an out of the closet homosexual (man or woman), when people got married before living together, when children respected adults or even when an accident happened both got out of the car and both said “I’m sorry”. These were times when we didn’t waste hours and hours and hours on the internet or tv on a weekly basis. Most of all, when they noticed that the years were flying by much faster than when they were young. I don’t remember talking to anyone over 60, that has told me that the years are longer now in their golden age vs the time they were closer to my age. Now here’s the issue with that reality.
We have sinned against a Holy God. We have offended Him to the worst degree imaginable. And the only solution for this sin, is to punish it. If God is going to be righteous, He MUST punish you for the sin you have committed, there is no way around it.As much as I would like to say, He can overlook it, He can’t. Now here’s the biggest issue with the whole situation, we have no idea how long we have on this planet. We might have, as some rare people, 90+ yrs, or we might just have, as some unfortunate children, but a few weeks on this planet.
Either way, we don’t know when we are going to have our foot in the grave. Proverbs 27:1 reads: Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Basically, tonight, you might be reading this but tomorrow you might not wake up! How many thousands of people don’t wake up from their “beauty sleep”. My grandfather passed away by a heart attack at 3 am and
Unfortunately, he never professed salvation, so as much as it hurts and brings me to tears from time to time, I fear he is in a worse place now than he ever anticipated.
My friend, listen, Jesus, 2000 yrs ago, had 1 purpose. And 1 purpose only. To save sinners. Not to save the religious. Not to save good citizens, not to show us how to live a good life.
He came to save sinners, my friend, are you a sinner tonight. Do you see sin as heinous as God sees it? And if you do, it’s like anti-seize a mechanic would use to make sure bolts don’t seize up. If you get some on your finger, and you touch something else, it spreads. And next thing you know, you have some EVERYWHERE, unless you wash your hands first and COMPLETELY get rid of it.Jesus blood does exactly that. Washes your sins completely. But according to John 14:6….Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.That’s the only way to get your sins washed.
Won’t you repent of your sins. They are leading you to an eternity of hell, destruction. With NO escape. And believe in Christ, the one that hung there. The one that YOU sent to the cross. It was MY fault He had to die, and for you to be saved, you have to see it as it being YOUR fault as well.
