Is God Just?

Romans 3-23-26
21] But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Now to speak on this one…we have to put some context in this. In the first 3 chapters of Romans, Paul is seemingly trying with all his might. And penmanship to show that man is cursed. Man wants nothing to do with God.
Romans 1-24 “Wherefore, God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts….
So basically, man is helpless. “stuck” in his sin and won’t come out of it. And even to the point, it’s almost like God is saying “you want to be in lust of your sin, I will not hold you back any longer….you’re free to sin as you want”
So that makes us even guiltier than thou, as the expression goes. That causes a major problem. Because here’s the situation. God is 3X holy. He is Just as Romans 3 26 calls him.
Isaiah 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
And there are many other verses, but because of the time…I won’t go into them,
And now about man.
Just previously in that chapter, we have at verse 10
Romans 3:10-18 As it is written, there is NONE righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is NONE that seeketh after God. They are together become unprofitable; there is NONE that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes,
This passage is very clear.  We are all equally without goodness of ANY kind before God.  Not only does it tell us that we are without goodness, but it also tells us the extent to which we ARE wicked.
Now here is the dilemma, if God, the holy God of heaven that created everything in sight, and everything that is out of sight, is just, where would that leave us? My friend, that leaves us dead in our sins…literally. The language used in the context of chapter 3 is actually judicial, legal terms in the Greek. So basically, we are here, completely accused of our transgressions and left to bare our own penalty. If God is just, He has NO choice but to send us to hell. That’s a dilemma. Because we have absolutely no objection to His accusations toward us.
Imagine if the verse was just “that He might be just….” And would end there. My friend, the hope of all mankind, would be no more.
But the beauty here is that it doesn’t end there. “And the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus”
Our sentence has been annulled. Our accusations have been rebutted, our transgressions, have been taken away.
Don’t ever forget the cost that brought you here, we always say that it was free. It was far from free, it came with a very costly price tag, that none of us could ever afford.
And it wasn’t just anyone’s blood that was shed, it was God himself, in the flesh. I remember in a prayer meeting once, a brother had prayed “God could create the heavens and the earth by speaking them into existence, but to forgive us, His Son had to die a bloody death.”
I have read that verse I don’t know how many times, but just recently, it almost brought tears to my eyes on how it gives hope for the sinner.
