4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgement; 5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished:(2 Peter 2:4-9)

James 2
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
New Living Translation (©2007)
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.
Amos 4:12
prepare to meet your God, O Israel.
Acts 16
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

What we have read about here, is that hell is a real place. God is a real being and you, are not a figment of someone’s imagination.

First of all, who is God. Let’s establish that first. God is the supreme being that created everything we see, and everything we don’t see. He created the simpler objects, such as rocks, water, dirt, metals and so on. He created the more complex cells such as vegetation and animals. And He also created the most complex of things, such as the human body, which has cells that contain DNA. I am not going to go in detail of what DNA is, or how much information is stored in it, just know this, there is nothing in the world that holds as much information as it does. And it’s microscopic. And that God we’re talking about is Holier than anything else in this creation.

Now let’s talk about the human race a bit. We are an interesting bunch, we want everything to revolve around us, we want everything catered to us. You don’t think I am accurate? Go ask the business man what is on his mind, the next deal. Ask the husband shopping in the electronics department, looking for his big screen tv, the woman in the department store shopping for clothes so she can feel good about herself. The child that wants his/her Xbox or PS3. This society has built itself to where we are on its own. And often enough, if they don’t get what they want right away (myself included) we throw a fit, cause a scene in the store if they don’t have it in stock right then and there.

My friend, we are a sinful bunch. But more importantly, YOU are a sinful person. And God will have the last word with you. Even if you don’t believe in Him. I often use this illustration, whether you believe in gravity or not, it’s still there. Jump from your front deck, and you are not going to float.

The verses we read to night basically say that if God didn’t spare the angels, that were in heaven with Him, and rebelled, and then Sodom and Gomorrah, the entire world when Noah was part of the 8 saved amongst possibly billions. What chance do you really think you have? Jonathan Edwards preached a sermon on July 8th, 1741, called Sinners in the hands of an Angry God.

My friends, I can’t remember the last time I read such a serious, warning to sinners. He covered it all, the holiness of God, the sinful nature of man, and the terrible judgment that is to come if you don’t believe in Christ at the cross.

My friend, God didn’t spare the angels, and I will even go further, He didn’t spare His own Son on that cross. Remember when Jesus cried out “My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me? God turned his back on His Son because God cannot look upon sin and tolerate it. Jesus became sin, so that His sacrifice would be sufficient for your forgiveness from God. As I was saying to someone last week, someone has to die in your place, that has no sin, for God to forgive you of your sin. And I can’t do it cause I have sins of my own. So the only resort, was for God to come down from heaven in the human form, and die, instead of you. Won’t you believe in him, before it’s too late.
