Justin Trudeau, leader or attention seeker?

Recently, the Liberal leader of Canada came out and said that unless you’re pro-choice, you cannot be a part of his party. While I appreciate that he actually has a conviction and a stance on something (though it’s different from mine) not enough people actually stand for anything anymore.

That’s the problem with what we call Postmodernism. I’ll touch on that topic another time. For now, let’s talk about how misleading the term pro-choice in reality really is.

The term “pro choice” was coined according to http://www.dictionary.com back in 1970 – 75 to help with the push of abortion. The term abortion was a bit strong for some people, and people in the opposite came were called pro-life. So instead of calling it pro-death, it was more audibly appealing to call it another choice. So the term pro choice was thus born.

Of course what I just mentioned above is completely paraphrased and I was not able to find the exact time, or person that started it. However there was an article related to Mr. Morgentaler, the champion of the cause Canada that described the situation in the above context.

The problem with the term “pro choice” is that it’s misleading. We already know a woman (and a man) has many choices from the start. Abstinence, condoms, the pill (or other contraceptives), stay sober (this would reduce very many date rapes and many unwanted sexual experiences). If a woman does get pregnant, then there is private adoption, open adoption, family adoption, keeping the child, signing the child over to the father.

I just mentioned 9 options, and I’m sure I don’t have them all. But pro choice advocates are fighting for just 1 choice. So are they really pushing for pro choice? No, they are pushing for what would be called the easy way out, murder. The issue that is not often advertised, is that there is no mention of the emotional stress the young woman will face after she realizes “something just left me” as the abortion is performed.

Countless testimonies of women that have gone through abortions recount their experiences and the regret they have after. They were not given abortion as a choice, but as a solution to a problem. While I agree that teen pregnancy is a huge “problem” in our society, I don’t see abortion as a solution. I see it as murder.

And now, Mr. Trudeau is coming out and not running his party as a democratic. He thinks he’s doing his party a favour by going in one direction. The problem is, it’s not a light topic such as funding for a rotary club. Or supporting a charity. Some people can be for or against many topics and still work together on other issues.

When it comes to abortion, the people that see it as murder cannot see it any other way. And the folks that see it as just a “lifeless foetus” are rare to change their mind as well. And both parties are very strong on their stance.

So on this one, Mr. Trudeau, you have not thought out your position thoroughly enough. I for one, was considering voting Liberal due to not liking any policies on the NDP side, nor the green party. However, you are forcing me to vote Conservative since they are the only ones that give us “pro lifers” a choice as well.

Since abortions are already legal in Canada, and available to any woman now, I don’t know how much further down the slide of immorality you can push this country Mr. Trudeau. I guess we will see if you get in power. What a sad day in Canada that will be.
