Jesus…I Need You!!!
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)
The other day on my way to town, I heard on a radio station that I listen to very frequently, the host was talking to a guest about making some Christmas cooking. And while some of the recipes that were mentioned sounded delicious, there was an expression that caught my ear and attention.
She was mentioning that sometimes, when she needs help, she has a “Jesus moment”. She then qualified that statement with “when I need help, I call it my Jesus moment” I have a question about that statement. Does she only have that moment during her cooking times? How about when she doesn’t have a guest on her show for the next 5 minutes due to a technical glitch? What about when she has a strong disagreement with her fiancé?
And who does she suppose Jesus is? Based on hearing the way she seems to be for the feminist movement (even a little bit), I doubt it’s the same Jesus that is in the bible, much less the Jesus of the book of Revelation.
There are more and more people that think Jesus is at “their” calling, and will do whatever is needed for them to be comforted. But there is no commitment needed on their part. When things are under control again, it’s almost like they are saying “Jesus, thanks again, I’ll call you later….but don’t interfere with the rest of my life”. Most people that call out to Jesus, is for the lottery, because they are not comfortable in their sinful ways. 2 people living together out of wed lock, one gets angry and the other prays out to God. The problem is, the god they are praying for looks and acts more like Santa, than the God of the bible.
Why do I say that? God doesn’t tolerate sin. God CANNOT be near or in the presence of sin. And almost everyone that calls out to him…lives in sin, and they don’t intend to stop it. The radio host in question, lives with her fiancé…so I have no doubt they are participating in activities that are reserved for married couples only. The first thing she would probably tell me if she knew about this post, would probably “don’t judge me”…and I don’t have to..the bible already does. I’m just pointing it out to her.
Dear friend, don’t be one of those that calls out to Jesus just because you “think you need help” and things are not according to what you thought you might have planned. I pray with each post, that you will see your sin for what it is..a direct attack at the person of God, with an attempt to dethrone him (I’ll have a future post explaining this one, stay tuned) and God does not get dethroned. You will answer for each and every sin you have committed. I pray you repent and He grants you salvation through the blood of his Son first.
