I want nothing to do with Christ, God or the bible, but I want heaven….
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)
I have been lately going to the Saturday market and walking trails in my home town of Dieppe passing out gospel tracts with other Christian brothers over the last few weeks, since I had Saturdays off. It had been a long time since I went out on the enemy’s territory. I am always preaching from the safety of my kitchen table with my laptop. Or I was preaching in a church building with 150 pairs of eyes looking at me in silence. But when you are face to face with the public, you remember real quick the quote by Jesus in John 15:18 18“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
We try to hand out gospel tracts to everyone. Is it probably the scariest thing I do….you have no idea what their reaction is. Is it going to be “I had some questions about it”, “No thanks”, might it get physical?
My main concern for this article is this. Often people reject any type of conversation we might engage in. But yet, they all believe they are going to heaven, or in the least, that there is no afterlife. I have a big, big issue with this. People don’t want to hear about Jesus, won’t want to know what the bible says, and they don’t want God to rule over them. But they want to go to heaven. Do you realise how ignorant that is!!! That’s like someone saying they want to be a doctor, but won’t go to medical school for another dozen years after high school. Or someone saying they want to be a wealthy businessman, but won’t put in the 60 – 80 hrs a week working the business to get there…..If someone came to you today, and you asked them what they want to do for a career, and they said “lawyer”, and you asked them what university they are studying law. And they tell you they watch Judge Judy for their law education…you wouldn’t take them seriously would you? So why, if you go to a church that doesn’t glorify Christ, God, and open the scripture, do you think you are going to heaven?? You can’t stand Christ now. You say “the bible has good principles to live on, but you can’t believe the whole thing”, or you say “God loves me as I am”, my friend, you are seriously mistaken. What do you think heaven will be?? Golden bricks road leading to your every pleasure? No more tears and everything you want? You’re completely wrong!!!! Heaven is NOT about you. It’s about God and Christ. If you can’t stand Christ here, what makes you think you will love Christ then??!! If you don’t want to associate yourself with Him here, you won’t want to associate yourself with Him there. I have news for you, He didn’t die on the cross so EVERYONE could go to heaven. He died on the cross so His believers could go to heaven. When I first saw the cross for what it was, you want to know the reaction I had? Oh God, my sin, I can’t get rid of it…you have to do something about it.
I cried, cried inside. It’s ALL MY fault you had to die on that cross!!!! I should have been there!!!! And that’s when the cross finally made sense. It was for me!!!
I will tell you something right now, I realise there are many different faiths out there handing out tracts and literature all the time. The difference between you and me, is that I welcome their literature with open arms. I will probably initiate the conversation, or at least welcome it. And if they don’t believe some of the fundamentals of Christianity, I will call them out on it. Just think about it, someone hands you a tract on the street, you look at it, and crumple it, and throw it in the garbage…do you realise, that’s like spitting on Christ? You’re basically saying “I don’t need him”.
My friend, what would you do to someone that spits in your son or daughter’s face….I certainly doubt you would have kind words for that person. So if you reject Christ, what other option does God have other than to send you to hell? There are only 2 places possible according to the bible. Purgatory ISN’T one of them. That’s a Catholic fable that was brought about for more money. Don’t believe me? Research it.. The only 2 places are either God’s heaven, or hell. NOT “your” idea of heaven.
I pray daily that people visiting my site will see their sin for what it really is, and how badly it offends the infinite God. And that they will see Christ on the cross as their ONLY redemption.
