I can’t believe in God, there’s too much evil.

Psalm 14:1 – The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

When I talk to people about God and Christ, I sometimes hear the following objection.
“I can’t believe in a god, since there is too much evil in the world”.
There is much wrong with the previous statement. They can’t believe in God, but yet, they agree there are wrong doings in the world. Let’s look at this logically.
First of all, if they see the evil in the world, they must therefore assume there is good in the world as well. We will all agree that raping children is evil no matter the context. It’s wrong in Canada, as well as in Australia. Germany so far has legalized pedophilia, but we all know in our conscience, it’s wrong.
Second, if we see there is good in the world, we must also agree there is a moral law, that makes the difference between good and evil from which we can make the difference between the 2. We know there are physical and science laws (Law of gravity, it works whether you believe in it or not, jump up, you’re coming down). It would be foolish to try and ignore the moral law as well.
Then if we have a moral law, there must be a moral law giver. There has never been a law in a land that was not put in place by some judicial process. Whether is was by a senate, or the governing leaders in some format or another. Every land has some sort of law that is meant to be kept. Why would morality be any different?
In this case, the moral law giver is God. He said what is right and what is wrong. The 10 commandments come to mind. The moral law of God could be a series of a few posts for the full details, so we’ll stick to simply the 10 commandments for the sake of time.
But God is the one they are trying to deny, so that in turn removes the moral law, which then removes good, which removes evil. So then to be consistent with no God, they have to say there is no such thing as evil. The only sentence I know I can agree with Richard Dawkins is this “there is no such thing as evil in the world”. At least he’s being consistent with his humanistic world view.
The other thing we must ask, is why does the moral law point to a God, why can’t it just be? The reason it must be pointed to a person, is because evil is always asked about a person, or the suffering of a person. This means, we have been created as beings with worth by a being with worth.
My friend, you can deny God all you want, but you must borrow from the Christian faith in order to justify the evil in the world. Without Christianity, you have no justification on claiming the evil deeds of some individuals around the world.
